Empoasca is a genus of leafhoppers belonging to the family Cicadellidae subfamily Typhlocybinae. Þær eru kubbslega vaxnar, kýttar, staflaga, höfuð stórt með tiltölulega flatan koll, kúpt eða framteygt enni , niðursítt, með sograna sem veit niður og aftur. Ungviðið lifir á sveipjurtum og þroskast fyrri hluta sumars upp frá eggjum sem brúað hafa veturinn.
