Welcome to Dish n Desserts….. rasam or saaru recipes one of our personal favourite is one of the south indian staple dishes and are made on a daily basis..it could be a simple lunch or dinner, or it could be a celebration feast, rasam is an important role in every meal. particularly in karnataka, the udupi saaru is known for its flavour and taste…You can store this for upto 1 month if store and used properly…will be sharing some tips too for storage and long shelf life if the rasam or saaru powder. Ingredients Coconut oil - 2 tbsp + 1 tbsp Long dry red chilly (Byadagi mensinkai) - 15 to 20 Coriander seeds/Kotmbari beeja - 1 cup Jeerige/ Jeera / Cumin - 1/4 cup Urdu bele / Urad dal - 1/2 cup Menthe/Methi - 1 tbsp Curry leaves/Kadipatta - 1/4 cup Quick tips ✅ use coconut oil to get the rich flavour and authentic taste in masala. ✅ roast on medium low flame to prevent spices from burning. ✅ you can prepare the spice mix in large quantity and store in an airtight container for up to 6 months. ✅udupi style rasam powder tastes great when prepared with good quality chillies Quick tips for Storage 🥄 The powder has to cool completely before transferring it to the air tight container , 🥄Do not add more oil than mentioned in the video m this way you can store the masala in room temperature for about1 month. 🥄You can make this In large quantity make store In refrigerator and take out small batches when required. 🥄 Always use dry spoon while taking out the Masala , this will prevent fungus formation and will have longer shelf life.
