Neutrality isn't an option when it comes to the fight for personal and political freedom, says world-trotting journalist Christiane Amanpour. Offering context on some of the most significant stories impacting the world today, Amanpour details her experience covering the women-led protests ignited by the death of Mahsa Amini in Iran and shares insights on the war against totalitarianism in Ukraine, revealing realities missing from global reporting. This conversation, hosted by TED current affairs curator Whitney Pennington Rodgers, was part of an exclusive TED Membership event on November 21, 2022. @StayVCA98منذ 2 سنوات This is such an important topic to spread around for awareness because on Twt even in own K-Pop Fandom "Stay" there's has been many of our id="hidden1" class="buttons"> fellow Iran Stays who fear while still spreading the word of this issue and its injustices, while our Ukrainian Stays are also in jeopardy because it's war they are dealing with,I really do hope things will get better in both places sooner. ....وسعت 5

@EYEBALLKLOTTالعام الماضي I don't think the victims survivers want the memory dragged up.
Sadly, men here are the victims of an attractive Local group who maybe feel that way. I cant feel that way.

@abbysorenson6685منذ 2 سنوات Christiane is a thoughtful and compelling journalist, I hope she gets those interviews with the autocrats, dictators, politicians and oil execs that she's id="hidden6" class="buttons"> asking for. I'd also be curious to see them spell out their worldview and see how the people feel about it. Leaders should be accountable to the people, they should have to sell their ideas to us for support, and if there is no support from the people, they should be removed from their leadership positions. Christian is an incredible interviewer and I'd love to see more of her putting "leaders" in the hot seat. ....وسعت 10

@Sergey2365منذ 2 سنوات You would rather discuss the riots in Europe (in France, the police injured people who came out to protest, in Spain, detentions of those who voted for id="hidden7" class="buttons"> independence continue in Catalonia) and America - hundreds of blacks die from police violence every year than to suck Iran and Ukraine out of your finger. When Ukraine blocked the Crimean water channel and blew up power lines, you didn't notice it. When they fired from large-caliber guns at peaceful settlements, Europe did not see anything, although it was the guarantor of the Minsk agreements. ....وسعت 7

@joshuapaul2022منذ 2 سنوات Meanwhile in real life the war is lost by Ukraine . Erratic Zelenskyy reminds Hitler in 1945 . He shells a nuclear plant under Russian control. He wants id="hidden11" class="buttons"> to drive to grave as many people as possible. Half of Ukraine has a blackout and winter hasn't even started. Zelenskyy regime banned marking of soldiers' graves with Ukrainian flags. Endless forests of flags at cemeteries across Ukraine proved to be too demoralizing and scary for those still desperately trying to escape forced conscription (which is tantamount to a certain death warrant) . ....وسعت 14

Of course women shouldn't be forced to wear hijab , despite id="hidden16" class="buttons"> being an obligation from god to wear hijab

@mohammadmehdisaboori4357منذ 2 سنوات That was not all the story of Iran. I'm living in Iran.
Hijab was not a law after revolution. And the law enforced by parliament (Islamic consultative id="hidden17" class="buttons"> assembly) several years after the revolution. Not by Khomeini and not in the beginning of Islamic Republic of .
And Mahsa Amini died by a MI. Not by police. Police took her to a classroom. Not to the jail.
Demonstration against that law was a street riot in the first day and now somehow a war. Probably with guns against police and people. We had a lot of police martyrs in this month!
    Say true story!

@reihaneasadi8561منذ 2 سنوات All the things you said about Iran, the president, women, our country, etc. are not true. When you don't live in a country and you don't live among id="hidden18" class="buttons"> its people, it's better not to judge it. Let's be logical, every country has its own law, such as America, England, etc., which must be observed by its people. Why don't you talk about the homeless in America and different countries, why don't you talk about the many problems that exist in the world. Why don't you show the beautiful places of Iran and its good features.
Please solve your own problems and failures, Iranian do not need a defender.
