How Agro Processing and Value Addition is the Future for Uganda - Hamis kiggundu,CEO Ham Group

Its our obligation as Ugandans to spearhead the development of our motherland Uganda. Ham Enterprises just concluded a contract with Roko Construstion to start Construction of Phase one of an Intergrated Agro processing plant mainly to add value to our agro produce which will increase on their demand and market domestically, regionally and internationally. Ham Agro proceesing industries aims at promoting import substitution thus less money leaving the country with a limited dependency syndrome as a nation, increased regional and international exports thus increased national incomes, Increased farmers incomes which will not only improve their lives but equally empower them with the ability to pay taxes thus widening our national tax base. Based on reason and reality we aim at exploring and exploiting the limited available resources to substantially contribute to the development of our motherland Uganda. Uganda is naturally gifted with very good fertile soil, good climate and a young energetic poplulation; a robust well planned intergrated Agro processing plant will promote agriculture, increase land value, reduce land fragmentation and equally reduce on the unemployment levels in the longrun. Uganda has ten agro zones pending on the kind of agro produce coming from each zone. It's only if we can develop regional intergrated agro processing plants in all zones that Uganda will develop within 5 to 15years because these would make ugandans not only productive but equally improve their lives. We are 42 million Ugandans today but only 1million are registered tax payers, how then do you expect the country to develop!, unproductivity of most Ugandans is the main factor hindering development of our motherland. This project aims at Improving the lives of Ordinary Ugandans starting at the village levels. We can only illustrate love for our motherland through contributing to its prosperity not just talking and complaining all the time, for negativity kills reason, progress and prosperity. That is why we at Ham Enterprises have made a choice to invest in Agro processing and value addition, may be others will follow and together we shall develop our Country. For God and My Country.
