I wanted varying angles throughout so had to rely on the Weebill S gimbal to stabilise the XT4 and transition seamlessly between angles. For the beginning part of video I had the gimbal atop a monopod to give that elevated look and then had to slowly lower the camera to reveal Lola and begin the vocal in the song. As I had the 16-55mm f2.8 lens with two filters and the cage attached to the camera, this made the setup fairly heavy and the parts of the video where I raise the camera into the air proved very challenging. By the end of the video, and multiple takes, my arms were in agony! Ha! The filters were the main aesthetic choice for the video. I had the Freewell Variable ND which slightly tints the image and gives an effect that I lean towards for all my work, and the main effect I wanted is from the Tiffen Black Pro Mist 1/4 to give the dying light in the background a lovely looking haze and compliments the look and feel of the video. For the lighting, I had a small Aputure AL-M9 LED light fixed to the camera cage just off-centre with the lens and this was used at full brightness and a small diffuser attached. It definitely did the job I was looking for. I had the XT4s IBIS enabled the whole time as I feel it really helps with micro-jitters when using gimbals and also allowed me to not use any post-stabilisation whatsoever, which is always a nice achievement. The autofocus on the XT4 did a good job despite its flaws in certain scenarios. The autofocus settings I had were, Tracking +3 and Speed -3. This gave me a more natural feel to the autofocus pulling and none of that high speed snapping that the Fuji AF is known for. In such low light with F Log I have to say it did impress me, and it didn't falter hardly at all. For the post production I colour graded the footage using Film Convert, which is my go-to for the style I like to create, especially in music videos. I used the KD Portra 400 film stock and applied liberal amounts of film grain to assist the aesthetic. If you like the music then I have provided the link to the Spotify account above.
