Thimphu - Thimphu is the capital city of Bhutan with the population of approximately 100,000 people. It’s an hour drive from paro international airport, the only international airport in Bhutan. Buddha Point (Buddha Dordenma) - This statue of Shakyamuni Buddha is called Buddha dordenma or people call it the big Buddha. It celebrates the 60th anniversary of the fourth king Jigme Singye Wangchuk. It is in the Kuensel Phodrang Nature Park which was formally opened in 2011. The construction of big Buddha started in 2006 and completed in 2015. This big Buddha contains 125000 little Buddhas of bronze inside it. This golden Buddha statue was the project of over 100 million dollars. The names of the donors are listed inside the meditation hall. Merorial Chorten - Memorial Chorten is the Buddhist Stupa in thimpu, also known as the Thimphu Chorten, located in the southern central part of the city. The Stupa was built in 1974 to honor the third king of Bhutan Jigme Dorji Wangchuk. When the third king Jigme Dorji was alive, he wanted to build a Chorten to represent the mind of the Buddha so his mother fulfilled his dream. Many people come to this chorten to calm themselves from the busy-life. There is a hospital next to this chorten so many sick people visit this chorten to pray for good health. You can see many old people are visiting this place and pray.
