After spending a decade and a half travelling to the world's foremost downwind paddling locations my brother and I think the Millers Run is the best downwind in the world for the following reasons: 1. Consistent conditions - there is not a week in the year that you can't do a Millers downwind. There are always runs and they can be massive or small, take your pick. 2. Versatility - it works on 6 different wind directions, 3 one way and 3 the other way, and it's downwindable from 10knots right up to 50knots. This give a wide range of different types of downwind conditions. 3. Safety - the launch and the finish are completely safe with no massive breakers, and despite being 2kms from shore at the furthest point you are mostly being blown back to shore. 4. Accessibility - You can do it in an hour and half, all inclusive: arriving, loading boats, shuttle, paddle and back in the car. It's a quick 20minute drive to the start. One can do a Millers Run from arriving in the parking lot, to back in your car in an hour and a half. There is no other run in the world that can offer that kind of turn-a-round. 5. Beauty - Paddling into the embrace of towering mountains on one side, and wide open bay on the other, with a plethora of wildlife, a Millers is never dull!
