@deadpoolrockz6410منذ 3 سنوات The way I view the live action film and the animated film that came out last year is basically:
If you want a film that has a familiar backdrop, id="hidden4" class="buttons"> but does a lot of things differently with the plot elements and characterization so that it stands apart from its source, watch the live action film.
If you want a familiar backdrop, while also maintaining the characters personalities, motivation and roles from the source while also inputing in minor, yet significant, changes to the storyline, watch Scorpions Revenge.

Assuming that Bi Han and id="hidden7" class="buttons"> Hanzo's battle happened in feudal Japan. @Loonz1926منذ 3 سنوات Mortal Kombat was the first game that I ever played that my parents bought me as a kid on my Sega. With that said, I’ve been a long time fan of MK. I’m just speaking of Cole here and I honestly was frustrated that he was even in the film at first, but after watching it with people who didn’t know the story of MK (one of many stories), they did a great job explaining MK through him. I still wish it were Johnny in his place initially, but I understand why they used Cole after watching the film. ....وسعت 7

@osamakaiser4205منذ 3 سنوات I'm thinking of this as a reboot of the 1995 MK movie. Sure this is like the first attempt at an MK movie after years. I'm hopeful that the id="hidden18" class="buttons"> sequel will improve upon this. Also if I'm not mistaken, I think the tournament never started in this movie because Tsang Tsung attacked to get a win by forfeit and Cole thought to fight back before the tournament begins. • @
@kyleguebert5526منذ 3 سنوات My thoughts are all over the place on it. It didn't live up to my expectations, but I'll admit that they were unusually (and perhaps unrealistically) id="hidden22" class="buttons"> high to start with after that first trailer. Shang Tsung was kind of a wet blanket of a villain. You see him with his black eyes to indicate his otherwordly nature, and he steals Kung Lao's soul (which was visually cool), but you never see him shapeshift once. He never feels truly menacing, and I don't think they mention Kahn by name, either. Outworld's presence as a whole was very lacking in the film, actually. You see, what, two scenes by Shang Tsung's throne and the one of them walking toward the Shokan statue?
At first, the complete lack of the actual tournament was a WTF head-scratcher. Upon further contemplation, I can let it barely slide because if I'm remembering right, there were only two main Mortal Kombat tournaments in MK1 and MK2. Everything from MK3 on was the Outworld invasion, Netherrealm war, Deadly Alliance (which, ok, they had that tournament for Li Mei to have won), Armageddon, but by and large, the tournament itself plays little role in what we've seen go down amongst the characters themselves. However, this film is very much worse of for not featuring the actual tournament and focusing instead on Cole and the lead up to the tournament.
I could keep nitpicking the everloving shit out of it, but I'm not going to pretend for one second I wasn't grinning like a 9 year old the whole time I was watching it, and would rather not dwell on the negatives. I liked the arcana thing, too, because it would at least explain how (thread-bare as it may be) some of the "regular" characters from the games area able to display their special moves in a semi-plausible way. I liked with Cole how his (plot) armour has an appearance that he's wrapped in the same kinda wraps fighters do for their fists, and once I got passed how cliche the whole damage absorption was, I could look at like a nod to the meter mechanics in the games (and the uppercut having the reputation it did in the early games).
First watching was probably a 9, then an 8 after the second, and upon further reflection, I'm comfortable with a 7. For me, this movie is a massive step up from its predecessor in some aspects, but fell behind in others.

@gabrielcisneros3426منذ 3 سنوات I was happy to see how great my boy Kabal was in this film, he literally killed every scene he was in everytime. I just seriously wished he had a lot id="hidden23" class="buttons"> more screen time and a lot more time to show what he's really about, he should have definitely been in more fights and did at least 1 or a couple of Fatalities in this movie for sure and definitely should have had a somewhat back story on how he got his powers and why he wears a bad ass gas mask. Other than that, those are my only nit-pick issues for what I have wished to seen more of, but overall I seriously hope they bring back Kabal in the sequels and not just basically kill him off like that ....وسعت 2

@hardykatمنذ 3 سنوات I gave the movie a 9/10. I enjoyed it, however there were some things that made me go "Hold up!". Like, there were some definite time pacing id="hidden25" class="buttons"> issues going on. The Goro/Cole fight. Cole's wife (An axe? Really? Against a four armed dragon?) Jax's robot arms doing the Transformer thing just made no sense, but whatever. I am glad that they explained why Cole and Scorpion are connected. I'm sorry but I could not get into Shang Tsung. I tried, but if it wasn't Cary-Hiroyuki Tagawa, I just wasn't buying it. I do think Kano got killed way too soon. Unless they're bringing him back in the sequel. And the Laser beam looked weird without the metal plate. Sub Zero tho! My favorite character in the whole movie. It was legit "oh shit, RUN" when he showed up. The movie was still enjoyable. Also The Miz for Johnny Cage in the sequel! ....وسعت 2

  • @
@franklynpimentel6897منذ 3 سنوات Apparently this was the reason why Mortal Kombat movie was different. "We didn’t want to just do the same movies again. Just as important, though, the movie’s creative team wanted to reflect how the game franchise has changed over the years. If you look at the way the games evolved, and the storylines within, it’s kind of moved away from that as well.”
“We weren’t just recreating [the] original film, we weren’t recreating the first five years of its existence. We had to consider its entire history, coupled with the fact that when you have a tournament structure for a film, it really informs your structure, it becomes a very specific structural element within the script itself. And that then informs a rhythm within a film that we didn’t really feel like we wanted to be locked into. So if you look at both of those things, we needed to talk about it because it’s an essential part of what Mortal Kombat is, but we didn’t want to be locked into it.”

@Sekronمنذ 3 سنوات In regards to location & setting.
    - Tournament: should have been an actual thing & taken place on Shang Tsung’s island to determine the fate of the realms.
    - Raiden’s temple: should actually be a place difficult for not initiated mortals to find and access. It shouldn’t be an overglorified cave in the desert, but rather an actual elegant & well-kept sanctuary for the Shaolin. Lastly, I strongly believe that adding Fujin as Raiden’s aide & right hand would have helped as he could’ve been the one who recruited the champions & sent them there. (Retcon can be made stating that no divine being can interfere with the tournament, thus preventing Fujin from participating)
    - Outworld: Just more screen time, perhaps add Shao Kahn’s army mistreating the citizenry. Showing the colosseum would have been a nice touch too.
    - Shirai Ryu: Should have been a small village with a handful of generic men training, rather than simply a hut & family of 4. Thus adding more to the Shirai Ryu being an actual clan that was slaughtered.
    - Arcana: pointless addition to the film.
    Characters:
    - Cole: Despite actor doing a good job, his character adds little to nothing to the story. If they wanted to use a random protagonist with ties to the tournament, it would have been a better idea to utilise the likes of Shujinko.
    - Reiko: Fans know him as one of Shao Kahn’s most powerful generals. In this he is an overgrown brute with fuck all lines & a few grunts. It would have been nice to have him actually intimidate Shang Tsung by stating “Shao Kahn is closely monitoring the events that happen here today, do not fail him again, Sorcerer” It would have at least shown any new audience that he isn’t a generic goon, but someone of high authority & intelligence. (Won’t matter if killed off or not)
    - Shang Tsung: Lacks that sly, classy, yet threatening demeanour his counterpart in the 1995 film had. Otherwise he wasn’t too bad.
    - Nitara: Adds nothing & should have been replaced with Jade to add to Mileena’s character. (Shouldn’t be killed off in first film)
    - Goro: Really low balled & should have been replaced with either Kintaro or a generic Shokan for Cole to defeat. Also goro should have played his largest role by appearing at the end & being the one to kill/defeat Kung Lao, thus allowing Shang Tsung to steal his soul.
    - Raiden: Had nothing divine about him, I’m honestly disappointed about his portrayal. The manner in which he speaks is very unfitting for a god & protector of earth realm.
    - Jax: portrayed well, however his cybernetics should not have been made in the temple by Shaolin monks.
    - Kano: Eye should have initially been cybernetic. Otherwise excellent portrayal.
    - Scorpion: Nothing too bad say about scorpion. Perhaps more control of hellfire/pyromancy would have been a nice touch the Sub-Zero fight. Would have been good to have him save earth realm in the last minute of the tournament.
    - Reptile: Should function as a spy rather than an assassin.

@nickroitman6743منذ 3 سنوات I think Mortal Kombat could have a movie centered on a certain character insted of trying to fit a character that doesn't exist on the lore. I would id="hidden34" class="buttons"> love to see a whole movie about the Lin Kuey against the Shiray Ryu.
In fact, I watched the movie with my father who knows nothing about MK, and at the end he said "I really liked the start with the ice guy, it's a shame the movie isn't about those two". Literally everyone who sees something about MK for the first time loves Scorpion and Sub-Zero and their story, that should be the starting point for movies or even series.
And then maybe after two or three movies about some characters, they could make a big one talking about the tournaments, when then people who watched previous movies know what they need about every important character and what they fight for (because beign honest, they didn't even tryed to introduce Shang Tsung and Raiden, and thats another whole story you could tell about them, for most people who watched this movie, they are the bad guy and the leader of the good guys)
I sincerely feel sad that this movie could have been so much better, scenes like the very first are what I want to see if they make another ones.
