WATCH: Trump’s COVID-19 response is ‘worst failure’ of any president in U.S. history, Jeffries says

Rep. Hakeem Jeffries, D-N.Y., criticized the Trump administration’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic, saying that President Donald Trump has made numerous false claims related to the severity and scope of the virus, and has failed in preparedness and response efforts. “One hundred and fifty thousand Americans are dead,” said Jeffries, calling the Trump administration’s coronavirus response “the worst failure of any president in American history, and the American people have paid the price.” In responding to questions about COVID-19 testing and shortages of personal protective equipment, Barr blamed the Obama administration. Jeffries questioned Barr during a committee hearing examining whether the attorney general has inappropriately politicized the Justice Department. Democrats launched the investigation earlier this year over Barr’s handling of the case against Roger Stone, whose 40-month prison sentence was commuted by the president this month. Democrats have since expanded their probe to several subsequent episodes in which they believe Barr is working for Trump’s own benefit.
