This project was just a bit of fun, I wanted to see how small I could make a practical car without any special tools or components. You will not win any prizes if you copy this but you may learn from the experience. I probably used the least number of tools in this project and all scrap items for components. Components - Double thickness corrugated cardboard Plastic chargecards or phone prepayment cards Cocktail sticks Plastic drinking straws Wire bag wrap Balloon Rubber bands Tools - Scissors or snips Hobby Knife Here is a selection of related playlists Rubber Band Power playlist /playlist/PLA5a2xPRSrB1otXh0w36OwsYIHZznUWp6 Rubber Band Power Cars /playlist/PLA5a2xPRSrB3g5RiX8Kf_uUBOL0Tb7AS0 Rubber Band Power Car #8 /playlist/PLA5a2xPRSrB0zJ5RHjvsw46Mio6uJjF5_ Rubber Band Power Car Back to Basics /playlist/PLA5a2xPRSrB3WKst8ubr8A_eAPMQlPGw- RBPC for Snowman plays247 /playlist/PLA5a2xPRSrB0F2PNcApzXxp_nFkUjnCMt Other People's Rubber Band Cars /playlist/PLA5a2xPRSrB0dbQ1TpU4qJx4m85zK7MFa Brakes on Rubber Band Cars playlist /playlist/PLA5a2xPRSrB3MyidvKMT3DqU1vNy9Atsf Carrying Dropping Pushing Pulling Stopping playlist /playlist/PLA5a2xPRSrB04L6RpUAs5akmK3jqmahPL Rubber Band Power Planes /playlist/PLA5a2xPRSrB1iBkfCc2jzfTK6LA9Sh7vi Rubber Band Plane Prop Assembly Demo playlist /playlist/PLA5a2xPRSrB3Xj24kixZAMLN6oaDu2_Z8 Rubber Band Powered Boats /playlist/PLA5a2xPRSrB1Pi_dNuFbsZd8q2G_zyjFS Rubber Band Wikipedia https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rubber_band Size 64 rubber band measure 3 1/2"x 1/4"x 1/32" or 89mm x 6mm Other People's Rubber Band Cars /playlist/PLA5a2xPRSrB0dbQ1TpU4qJx4m85zK7MFa My Channels GrandadIsAnOldMan https://bit.ly/2T3x6RX GrandadsOtherChannel https://bit.ly/2yW5uYb Put a rubber band on it https://bit.ly/2T3OF4j Number4 https://bit.ly/3cG4fuZ You can help keep my channel running with coffee and cakes at Patreon https://bit.ly/35XFasL If you don't like Patreon you use Kofi instead https://bit.ly/3dNusI9 Merchandise on RedBubble https://rdbl.co/2yJv56H Merchandise on Cotton Cart https://bit.ly/2xZymOP Merchandise on Teespring https://bit.ly/2Zby02T Twitter https://bit.ly/3fMUgFN FaceBook https://bit.ly/3csbruk Pinterest https://bit.ly/2WTuuXP Instagram https://bit.ly/2WPLa2F Thingiverse https://bit.ly/35WfSem Tinkercad https://bit.ly/2WUrM4q Oldest videos https://bit.ly/2Z4RBl1 Most Popular https://bit.ly/3cx0lUP Newest videos https://bit.ly/2T3TryJ Playlists https://bit.ly/3dI9mdV I have thousands of videos on YouTube, to find one try my search guides /watch/wgcHOoOSBecSH or /watch/kRYwkwgU4jZUw #GrandadIsAnOldMan #GrandadsOtherChannel #Putarubberbandonit #Number4

@GrandadIsAnOldManمنذ 11 سنوات Right Krzystoph, I don't think it is a good idea but I can think of two options. 1. Have both the rubber band and the string from the mouse trap wrapped id="hidden1" class="buttons"> round the axle at the same time, but one on the left and one on the right with a barrier between them to stop them overlapping and run both at the same time. You would need very good grip from the wheels or it would just wheelspin and go nowhere. 2. Have some sort of freewheeling ratchet effect to use one first and then the other is triggered. ....وسعت

@meghpandhi6600منذ 11 سنوات Add a spoiler to keep the back wheels down so there is more traction.

@meghpandhi6600منذ 11 سنوات Ok. I am doing this project at school and do you think I should add a spoiler?

@Shunpyمنذ 10 سنوات Great video, this is something that i can do without spending money to buy new materials , Thanks GrandadIsAnOldMan :)

@GrandadIsAnOldManمنذ 11 سنوات In option 2 the release of the mousetrap could be used to then trigger the release of the rubberbands which could then pull the ratchet that was freewheeling. id="hidden2" class="buttons"> This seems over complicated but have a look at the operation of "pull back" toy cars. A possible third option I have seen videos where two mousetraps are used. When the first one finishes it releases the second one. ....وسعت

@meghpandhi6600منذ 11 سنوات Yeah I used rubber bands for another project the mousetrap vehicle. Thank you for your advise.

@krzsimmons16منذ 11 سنوات Ways besides putting the bands as the string and in the front to push the lever arm down faster
  • @
@GrandadIsAnOldManمنذ 11 سنوات Hi Megh. I think you are joking :-) A spoiler would only add traction if the car was moving forwards fast enough for air to push down on it. It would not stop the wheels spinning at the start.

@GrandadIsAnOldManمنذ 11 سنوات It might look good, but I don't think it would help. The extra weight over the back wheels might help a bit, but a spoiler is designed to help cars id="hidden4" class="buttons"> stick to the road at high speeds so I wouldn't add one myself. Making the wheels grip would be more help. Have a look at some of my other Rubber Band Cars to see what different methods I use to add grip. The quickest and easiest way is to cut strips from a balloon or a rubber glove and stretch them round the outside of the wheel. ....وسعت

@krzsimmons16منذ 11 سنوات So I have been watching your videos but I am having some difficulties in thinking how to do my thought. So in science, we have to make an ultimate Mousetrap id="hidden5" class="buttons"> car and I'm thinking of putting rubberbands on the axles to make it faster, but then I thought it probably wouldn't work without adding two more axles. Is there any way you can think of that only requires 3 or less axles for that? ....وسعت

@GrandadIsAnOldManمنذ 11 سنوات I think you have put your comments against the wrong video Krzystoph. Are you trying to combine a mousetrap car with a rubber band powered car? I would id="hidden6" class="buttons"> expect that most school projects would not allow that, but I may be wrong. ....وسعت

@krzsimmons16منذ 11 سنوات Yes, I am. My teacher approved of my idea as she said the same problem I was thinking may occur
