The Avalanche Peak Trail is 4.7 miles roundtrip and is rated as difficult. It’s a short but steep climb, gaining 2,100 feet. From the top, you’ll catch incredible views of the surrounding mountains, get a sense for the sheer scale of Yellowstone Lake and, on a clear day, see all the way to the Tetons to the south.
