A local, Moataz Belaid, said “it was expected, especially since the Turkish issue does not affect only Libya, but rather Egypt and the whole region in general. And if we review history, Libya and Egypt have a common history in confronting all common enemies.” Another resident, Fatima Al-Hasnawi, said she was “against any external interference in Libya,” but that they are “forced to accept the intervention in order to reach a specific solution or to a certain point in Libya.” Another local called the Egyptian parliament's decision “inevitable after the intervention of the Turkish forces in the Libyan territories.” On Monday, the Egyptian parliament unanimously agreed that the army would carry out "combat missions" on the “western front” - a reference to Libya - as the forces of the Turkish and UN-backed Government of National Accord (GNA) are approaching the coastal town and oil terminus of Sirte.
