6 Facts behind BLACKPINK Song How You Like That - GlobalBlink On Friday, June 26, 2020, the K-Pop group from South Korea, BLACKPINK, which is fronted by Jennie, Jisoo, Lisa and Rose, released their newest single song titled “How You Like That”, which was also the opening for BLACKPINK's comeback after they had not been releasing a new single for a long time. In fact, some BLACKPINK fans or also known as BLINKs try to break the symbols in the video clip. Those symbols can mean many things, from a message to BLACKPINK’s fans or even about representation of the K-Pop girl group itself. So, here are the 6 facts behind BLACKPINK’s song “How You Like That”. Number 6. Long Release Process. Jennie said that the process of releasing the song “How You Like That” took quite a long time. According to her, BLACKPINK wanted to present a music genre that was fresher and different from before. "Because this is our first full-length album, the process is long. Through the pre-release, I want to present a genre that is newer and more diverse than the past like a taste test," said Jennie as quoted from Soompi. So, based on that, it seems that the reason that it needed a long time for BLACKPINK to release a new single titled “How You Like That” after a long time was because they wanted to make a new song with a genre different from the ones that they had already released. Of course it would take quite a long time because moving from one genre to another one really needs another adaptation, even for a world-class professional music group like BLACKPINK. Now, that really makes sense. Number 5. Message for Fans. According to Jisoo, there is a positive message behind the song “How You Like That” for her fans. Jisoo said that BLACKPINK hoped that BLINKs would always be enthusiastic even though they were in difficult circumstances. "I want to convey a positive and hopeful message. We sing to give a message to not be afraid of dark situations and not to lose confidence and strength to stand up again," she said. So, as stated before, the song “How You Like That” really contains a deep message to BLACKPINK fans or BLINK. The message is to never give up even in the darkest situations. That’s Nice, girls! Number 4. Symbols of 7 Deadly Sins on Jisoo's Body. In a video footage showing each member of BLACKPINK's personnel, Jisoo appears to be sitting on a broken wall with some writing on her body, as quoted from the YouTube account of one BLACKPINK fan, Shasha-Marie on June 26, 2020. According to BLINK, the writings on Jisoo's body are 7 deadly sins that are believed by followers of Christianity, including Lust, Gluttony, Greed, Sloth, Wrath, Envy, and Pride. Even though they are not clearly seen, the symbols of the 7 deadly sins on Jisoo's body can be interpreted as how Jisoo is fighting against the devil within her. Number 3. Victory Symbol on Two Horse Statues. BLINK not only solved the meaning of the writing symbols on Jisoo's body, but also the two statues that decorated the set when the four BLACKPINK members danced. It is known that the statues in “How You Like That” MV are The Winged Victory of Samothrace and The Trojan Horse which lead to antiquity. This means that BLACKPINK may win the battle when fighting enemies in an unusual way. Then, the horse statue can also be interpreted that BLACKPINK is ready to enter everyone's mind and rule the world. Well, in this case, they’re quite right because now BLACKPINK is very popular and has entered the minds of millions of people around the world. Well, those are the 6 facts behind BLACKPINK’s song “How You Like That”. If you have something to add, please feel free to write it down in the comment section.
