@
@greypilgrim6157منذ 2 سنواتGreat show, as usual, especially in a place like Spain, and also Portugal, where the energy from the crowd is gonna push the band to play inspired. I think id="hidden11" class="buttons"> Brian’s voice sounds a little better than it did on Razors Edge, where it sounded a bit beat up after the 12-year album and touring party that started in 1980 for him, where he pushed his vocal chords much harder then he had been doing in Geordie. He went from affable crooner to the tour de force and de facto screamer/belter/shrieker and overall Devil’s favorite good time rock and roll singer, wasting no time in ripping this distinction from Mick Jagger in 1980, with the opening track to Back In Black being a little ditty called Hell’s Bells; dragging you along to hell with his old buddy Satan, or possibly even AS Satan (depending on how you interpret the lyrics), while Mick is too busy coming to your emotional rescue to probably even notice, or care for that matter. Also awesome here is to see the return of Phil Rudd. He’s the secret weapon. And while there is no bad AC/DC album, it’s no accident that their least impressive period was from 1984-1993, when AC/DC was just good, but not great. And I rank the 3 studio albums that came out in that period as follows: Rank 15: Fly On The Wall Rank 16: Up Your Video Rank 17: The Razor’s Edge Keeping in mind that they only have 17 studio albums (and yes that’s not a typo, I have Razors Edge at 17th). Keep in mind though that there is no bad ACDC I album. They all kick ass. ALL OF THEM. GOT IT? CAPICE PAISAN? But yea, back to Phil. He’s great. I always find it ridiculous how “technical drummers” and those that worship and admire them, consider Phil’s playing “basic”. I play drums, and his playing is anything but basic. It takes a shitload of stamina, a ridiculously persistent and metronomic right hand that somehow also plays loose and with incredible feel, with an alarmingly quick return to the high-hat after breaks, and an advanced understanding of the role of drums in a rock band. And his demeanor is just so cool back there as well. I particularly like how he handles playing Thunderstruck which was played on album by Chris Slade (another fine drummer, but better off In a more modern hard rock band that relies less on that old rock and roll swing and feel, more like The Firm, where he did an excellent job). To elaborate further, on Thunderstruck, I like how Rudd plays the four standalone drum hits during the musical break before the chorus during this song live. He does it Rudd-style with 4 quick somewhat understated snare snaps, instead of the dramatic flailing style performed by Chris. And Rudd delivers this with the usual nonplussed look on his face in (decidedly intentional I am sure) contrast to the crazy over the top wild man “The Hills Have Eyes” faces Slade makes while performing this part. So yeah great to see Phil back. I actually thought Angus, who is usually flawless, came off a bit tentative early on. It may not have helped that he is playing with such a clean, undistorted, and thus less forgiving, guitar tone which tended to highlight any awkward notes. It was also interesting to see a more subdued Young on stage. I mean shit he was 40 now, but his neck was probably like 140 after 20+ years of non/stop head-banging on stage. Which I was glad for. I always found it frustrating that I couldn’t see his face while he was playing. Just a blur the whole time. And truly amazing that he could play some really intricate technical stuff while banging his head like that. The man is a force of nature and deserves to be considered up there with all the “greats”, and by this I mean Page, Hendrix; Clapton, Beck, Iommi, Blackmore, Tipton, Lifeson, whoever. Insert name here ______. He’s just as good as that guy, or better. He’s a master. Also great to see Malcom is still Malcolm. Unflinching. Unchanged. Immutable. He is more than an icon. More than an institution. He is an aesthetic. His playing is anything but easy. Like Rudd, he is a paradox, plays with incredible feel and nuance, but God does he hit those strings and nail those chords with unmatched force. He really is an additional percussionist for the band. But in all seriousness, if there is one thing that bothered me about this video, it was the severe under-exposure of Cliff Williams on camera. There is nothing more rock than seeing him lumber forth from his usual spot in the back by the drums, like some wild mountain man with that long hair like a mop practically covering his eyes, pounding that bass, and arriving just barely in the nick of time to deliver his backing vocals with some real power and conviction, only to lumber back as instantly as he lumbered forward. Like a rock and roll Sasquatch with an unmatched sense of timing and a great voice. For real, he and Malcolm have got to be in consideration for the best backing vocal tandem in rock. Also like Rudd, Cliff is severely under appreciated for the amount of talent he brings to the band. But he apparently doesn’t mind one bit, preferring the support role and leaving the spotlight to others. However, don’t be fooled by his desire to stay in the shadows a bit. This man can play with a fire and fury that is hard to match. And he’s flawless. Whether he is pounding home a driving rhythm, or playing some catchy groove, or elevating a song to the next sonic level, he is doing it expertly. Can he play “busy”? Yes. The man was one of the leaders and songwriters of the English rock band Home, which is a surprisingly inventive and progressively-minded rock band, and his bass playing there is much busier and even off the beaten path at times. So he is “basic” by choice. So if you are one of those bass players that snickers or maybe rolls their eyes when someone mentions Cliff in a conversation about great or overlooked bass players, it’s time to stop being an asshole and start listening s little more closely! If you made it through this, I thank you. You deserve a freaking medal. Long live ️☪️⚡️↩️↪️❕ ....وسعت12
