If a player started with 14 clubs or added clubs up to the limit of 14 and then loses or damages a club during the round or while play is stopped under Rule 5.7a, the player must not replace it with another club. Exception – Replacing Damaged Club When Player Did Not Cause Damage: If a player’s club is damaged during the round (including while play is stopped) (see Rule 4.1a(2)) by an outside influence or natural forces or by any person other than the player or his or her caddie: The player may replace the damaged club with any club under Rule 4.1b(4). But when the player does so, the player must immediately take the damaged club out of play, using the procedure in Rule 4.1c(1). . There is also a Local Rule (G-9) available for Committee's to adopt if they choose, for the situation when a player damages their club in the normal course of play. Losing your club into the water would not fall under the definition of 'normal course of play'. . WATCH SPECTATOR DAMAGE PLAYER'S CLUB /watch/sfePDyBDw2ZDP . .
