Even if most buyers won't take the new Mazda CX-30 off-road, they may be surprised to find a new off-road traction assist button available on most models. But what is off-road traction assist? Traditional traction control helps to correct wheel spin in low-traction conditions by reducing the engine torque and steadily applying the brakes to that wheel. The aim is to use the brakes as smoothly as possible so the driver can keep stable control of the car. But there are some situations where an abrupt power shift is necessary, such as when adventuring on uneven terrain. In a low-traction situation, most would just deactivate traction control and give ‘er. This is where off-road traction assist comes into play. Instead of deactivating traction control altogether, the off-road traction assist button calls for the system to stop reducing the engine torque and increases the brake force on the wheels without traction. The optimized torque distribution helps keep you moving in tricky off-road situations.
All CX-30’s are equipped with a four-cylinder Skyactiv-G 2.5 paired with a quick-shifting Skyactiv-Drive six-speed automatic transmission. This engine provides class-leading standard horsepower of 186 hp] and is rated to deliver up to 186 lb-ft of torque. The compact crossover is equipped with Mazda’s new off-road traction assist feature, which can potentially help the driver when adventuring on uneven terrain. When the diagonal wheels lose traction, off-road traction assist will stop reducing the engine torque and increase the brake force on the wheels without traction. This transfers power to the wheels still on the ground to help allow the vehicle to regain traction and continue the drive. G-Vectoring Control Plus and front-wheel drive are standard, while Mazda’s predictive i-Activ all-wheel drive is available on all trim levels.
Real-life test note: In the Mazda CX-30 AWD, gone is the TCS on/off button! It's now replaced by the Off-road traction assist button! We might say we had an influence on that since Mazda took notice of our Cx-9 and Cx-5 video a while ago and got their engineer to talk with us about that button change! So without it, it's smoking tire on the diagonal test hill, when you press on it, there is a little delay but the Mazda Cx-30 will climb it easily and way better than the previous gens of Mazda AWD system! There was no Excessive AWD System Load warning message. You can even feel it when you roll and turn on the dry tarmac! There is no maximum speed for the system to be used... can't wait to test it in the snow! This button Off-road traction assist button is also optional on the 2020 Mazda Cx-5 and Mazda Cx-9!
Check out our AWD diagonal test of the Mazda CX-30 equipped with Off-road traction assist to find out what happens when we press on it!

@subazealand9158منذ 4 سنواتYes, it works much better, but I remember you tested the new Mazda3 AWD and did well without needing this new system. Wondering why is different id="hidden2" class="buttons"> across the range. Its suppose this new system "locks" the rear differential electronically (as per Australian site) yet the rear wheel spin faster than the one on the ground, and the front wheel with no contact still spin a lot. Still is very good because it goes up without much efforts. But after reading how the system works, I was expecting something much better. ....وسعت9

@mcantu197منذ 4 سنواتSince you have Mazda's ear, can you suggest to them to start using high Color Rendering Index (CRI of 90+) LEDs in their headlights across the brand? id="hidden4" class="buttons"> Like many other companies, the LEDs used wash out warm color tones and kill a driver's depth perception at night. This might also help them with the IIHS headlight test of the CX30 which they recently failed because of excessive glare ....وسعت1
