This is my must have ingredient to make Vietnamese Grilled Pork. It's fairly easy to make but safety is important here. Adding hot water to hot sugar will cause extreme splattering so make sure to turn off the heat and add the water slowly and cautiously. Be prepared to jump back if necessary! Also keep in mind the sauce will thicken further as it cools. Vietnamese Caramel Sauce ¾ cup sugar ¼ cup water ½ cup boiling water In a medium size sauce pan melt sugar and ¼ cup water over medium heat until sugar turns dark browncolor Turn off heat and carefully add boiling water Turn back heat to medium and continue to simmer for a just a few minutes until sauce thickens slightly. *Sauce will thicken further as it cools* Let cool and transfer to jar
