The nine castaways are playing individually instead of as two teams. They have to dive down to retrieve a pot. The player without a pot is eliminated. After three rounds, they are diving for a heavy crate in the final, and must take it to shore. Two players are booted in each of three preliminary rounds. Challenge: Rock Bottom Winner: Rupert Boneham (shared with Amber Brkich and Jenna Lewis) Story Day 25 At Chapera, Lex is saddened that not only did he eliminate his greatest ally, Jerri, but it was in the favor of Boston Rob. He assumes Boston Rob will not go back on his word, and he starts chopping wood. At Mogo Mogo, everyone assumes Amber is gone, and a "mood" is around camp, as Jenna puts it. Boston Rob seems to be the most upset at the possibility because Amber was his best ally and date in the game. He knows he has to "watch both of his shoulders" at all times, and he and Alicia promise to never vote against each other. In the challenge, Jeff reveals that Jerri was voted out, to the delight of the ex-Chaperas on Mogo Mogo especially when they're relieved that Amber is safe. He says that even though the contestants are still two tribes, the reward will be individual. Rupert ends up winning and invites Jenna and Amber to join him for his reward. Rules Rock Bottom is a Survivor version of the game "Bring Me", where for the first three rounds, contestants would dive under water to find a shell and bring it back. The last contestant to do so would be eliminated. For the fourth and final round, the four remaining contestants would dive into the water, grab a rock and swim back to shore with it. The first contestant with the rock wins. History In Survivor: Marquesas, Paschal won the challenge and chose Neleh to a dinner and shower in a cruise ship. In Survivor: All-Stars, the contestants competed individually, instead of as two tribes (even though they are not merged). Rupert won a night in an resort, and shared with Amber and Jenna L. Trivia This challenge has only been used for individual reward. Only men have won this challenge. Kathy Vavrick-O'Brien is the only person to compete in this challenge twice. Expanded Cast: For the first time, the cast contained 18 contestants. Tribe Composition: The cast was divided into three tribes of six. Meager Supplies: The tribes only received a pot and machete at the start of the game. Tribe Absorption: Saboga, the tribe that lost the Day 13 Reward Challenge, was dissolved, with its remaining members to be absorbed by the other two tribes. Jenna L. and Rupert became members of Chapera, and Ethan and Jerri became members of Mogo Mogo. Kidnapping: The winning tribe from the Day 19 Reward/Immunity Challenge, Chapera, was instructed to take one member from the losing Mogo Mogo tribe to share their reward and immunity with. The selected member, Kathy, also skipped Tribal Council. Tribe Switch: A luck of a draw on Day 22 was supposed to mix up the tribes. However, the castaways found themselves literally switching tribes, except for Amber, who remained on Chapera. Pre-merge Individual Challenge: The Day 25 Reward Challenge featured an individual Reward Challenge despite the tribes still being separate. The winner, Rupert selected two members from either tribe (Amber and Jenna L.) to join him in the reward. Merged Tribe Composition: The merged tribe was composed of nine members.
