Since April 1, the country closed Wilayat Muttrah to contain the spread of coronavirus. Even after lifting lockdown restrictions in Muscat Governorate, Muttrah was still places under the isolation due to high number of cases. “We thank the people of Muttrah for their cooperation and commitment, as they have been our partners and supporters in curbing the spread of the pandemic,” Al Saidi said on Thursday. However, the iconic Muttrah Souq, Hamriyah and Al Wadi Al Kabir Industrial area will remain closed. “Cases are still high in these areas and therefore it will remain closed,” said Dr. Saif Al Abri, DG of Infectious Disease at Ministry of Health. According to Al Abri, the permitted commercial activities can be opened from 7am to 9pm everyday. MUSCAT: Oman will conduct test runs before “gradually” reopening its airports, Minister of Health said on Thursday. Speaking to the media, His Excellency Dr. Ahmed Al Saidi said in the event of reopening airports, quick checks will be done. “We hope to resume the airport operations and in the event of reopening airports, quick checks will be provided for those arriving in Oman as well some test runs before we gradually open,” he said. Oman had closed all its airports in March in the wake of coronavirus outbreak in the country. Currently only repatriation and cargo flights are operating in Oman. According to Dr. Saif Al Abri, DG of MOH, five accredited private health centres have been given permission to conduct rapid testing for coronavirus for those who are travelling outside Oman. “We will be soon announcing the names of the centres and people who wish to travel can do testing and get the result in 45 minutes,” Al Abri
