Costa Rica should definitely be on everyone's travel list. It has beautiful beaches, wildlife, volcanoes and yummy food. 00:00 Intro 00:44 RIO CELESTE Rio Celeste in Costa Rica is famous for its breathtaking blue water. The drive took us around 3 1/2 hours from San Jose. Our accommodation was in a prime location right on the Rio Celeste and only a short drive to the Tenorio Volcano National Park. These are the items of interest when visiting Rio Celeste: Rio Celeste Waterfall, Laguna Azul (blue water lagoon), Los Borbollones (gases from the volcano bubble up through the water in this area), and El Teñidero (area where two rivers meet). The entire hike is 3.7 miles round trip. It took us around 4 hours to complete it. After the hike, we made the drive to La Fortuna. There are many things to do in La Fortuna, Costa Rica. We spent two nights in this area of Costa Rica. While there, we marveled at Arenal Volcano, relaxed in the volcanic hot springs of Termalitas del Arenal, saw plenty of wildlife, and ate delicious food. We stayed at Casa Torre Eco Lodge and both agreed that it was one of our favorite stays. The views of Arenal Volcano from our bungalow were spectacular. We also spotted monkeys, a sloth, hummingbirds, and a Toucan during our stay. One of the best activities to do in La Fortuna is to visit a hot spring. We visited Termalitas del Arenal. The hot water in Termalitas comes from Arenal Volcano. Termalitas was reasonably priced ($8), clean, and not crowded. Tortuguero is on Costa Rica's Caribbean Coast. It is known as "Land of the Turtles" because the beaches in Tortuguero are nesting spots for turtles. On the way, we made a quick pit stop to see tons of iguanas. Then we made it to La Pavona where we took a one hour boat ride through the jungle to reach Tortuguero. Tortuguero is only accessible by plane or boat. We stayed at Casa Pelican and were able to book our tours through the hotel. Shortly after we arrived, we headed down to the beach for our turtle tour. This was definitely one of our favorite experiences in Costa Rica. We weren't able to film the experience because it would disturb the sea turtles. The next morning, we woke up early to take a canoe trip through the canals of Tortuguero National Park. Our guide was so fantastic at spotting wildlife on our trip. We saw caimans, monkeys, birds, a snake, iguanas, and butterflies. The trip lasted about 3 hours and it was a great way to relax and enjoy the wildlife of Tortuguero. After the canoe trip, we found a cafe along the water and ate breakfast. Then we took the boat trip back to La Pavona to pick up our rental car. From La Pavona, we made our way to the capital city of San Jose. We stayed one night in San Jose and then drove to Manuel Antonio. On our drive, we made a stop at the famous crocodile bridge on the Tarcoles River. We saw plenty of crocodiles sunbathing in the river. 31:20 MANUEL ANTONIO Manuel Antonio is one of the best locations for spotting wildlife. It is also home to beautiful beaches. When we arrived in Manuel Antonio we had dinner at El Avion. It is a restaurant inside of an airplane. The history of the restaurant is interesting and the views are amazing. Our hotel was very close to the Manuel Antonio National Park entrance. While driving around, we saw monkeys and a sloth outside of the park. We opted to use a guide to visit this National Park because the guides are experts at spotting the wildlife. They also bring along telescopes so we were able to see the animals up close.
