Sabine McCalla, Tall Lonesome Cowboy, // GemsOnVHS™

Visited the wonderful porch of Sabine McCalla, and her wonderful little canine friend, while on a little jaunt to New Orleans last year. I'd heard her name a few times, and actually met her however briefly at the Sister St house in the lower 9th, dancing the night away to the strums of guitars and the reverberation of fiddles. She doesn't remember me from that night, all the better as I was just a weirdo with a little miniDV cam, like the kid from American Beauty filming the paper bags in the wind. Anyhow, on this visit she treated me to two songs, and this one is about the dreaded Tall Lonesome Cowboy man that sweeps into your life, sweeps you off your feet, then drops you on the ground. As I said in the video, I've met quite a few of them in my time, and though they never romanced me, they sure can be annoying. This one is about someone we both knew, she confided in me.
